There's a new widget this week! If you've been using the News widget, you've probably been frustrated that it only shows a single topic. The Weather widget doesn't display out-of-date data. A shorter "fixed" list usually means there are less bugs overall. The fix list is shorter than it was in Public Beta 4 but that's actually a good thing. As a Public Beta Program participant, you'll need to make sure you're finding and reporting anything that isn’t on the list via the Feedback app. These are the bugs that Apple is currently reporting but that doesn't mean it's all of the bugs in iOS 14. After upgrading to iOS 14, Public Beta 4 your widgets might: be blank, show a different location, show the wrong weather, disappear altogether, be unable to resize, or have to be completely rebuilt. Widgets remain a mess, but the bug list is shrinking.Right now it'll indicate “Phone” is using the microphone for cell calls, but “System” for Wi-Fi calls. Swipe over to the Control Center to see what's using the mic. If you see a little orange light next to the notch, it means your microphone is in use. The new microphone indicator is still buggy.Automations might not run if they're scheduled back-to-back in Shortcuts. After updating, your Map user data such as Favorites, Collections, and Recents won't sync to devices running earlier versions of iOS and iPadOS.In Mail, Exchange OAuth accounts might not be able to re-authenticate.Localized text may be misaligned, clipped, or partially untranslated. If you have multiple HomePods, HomeKit might bug you to use them as a stereo pair whenever you view the accessory details.Restart your device to get it back to normal. Spotlight might not appear as expected.Fonts in your third-party apps may be wonky if they haven't started using the APIs introduced in iOS 13.The Control Center Airplane mode icon might not accurately reflect your current mode.Unless you're also beta testing macOS Big Sur on your Mac, you won't be able to sync your iOS 14 device. This is a big release, so it’ll take longer than usual to update. The official release notes have plenty for us to dive into, so let's get to it.
